SOUTHALL SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES AND MISSIONARY ORIENTATION
General Details
English Courses:
General English Course
This course is available to students of every ability, with levels ranging from Elementary to Advanced. Experienced teachers give tuition and practice in all areas: reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary. Each student is monitored to ensure their learning of English is broad and they progress in every area. Internal school examinations take place every term to assess an individual’s progress and students are able to specifically train for the main Cambridge Examinations: First Certificate and Advanced English Certificate The length of the General English course can be suited to the individual needs of each student, with the exception of elementary level and enrolment is at any time. School certificates are presented at the end of each period of study.
IELTS Course
Grading on the ‘International English Language Testing System’ (IELTS) is important in terms of British University entrance requirements. The school has specific classes to prepare students for academic IELTS examinations
Both the General English and the IELTS courses offer the student the possibility to study in either the morning (from 9.30am to 12.30pm) or afternoon (from 1.30pm to 4.30pm) depending on their level and the specific course. This arrangement benefits a variety of students: husbands and wives are sometimes able to study at different times of the day in order to look after children. The normal hours of study are 15 hours per week plus approximately 10 hours of homework. The maximum number of students in any class in the English courses is 16.
